The Navy may rename an aircraft carrier for TRUMP — STRIPPING Black Pearl Harbor hero Doris Miller’s name to do it.

The carrier is already under construction. It is supposed to become the USS Doris Miller, honoring a Black sailor who served in the segregated Navy during World War II. When Japanese planes attacked Pearl Harbor, Miller helped move his mortally wounded captain to safety. Then he grabbed an anti-aircraft gun he had never been trained to use and opened fire. He became the first Black American awarded the Navy Cross, one of the military’s highest honors. The carrier was supposed to make history too: It would be the first aircraft carrier ever named for a Black American and the first named for an enlisted sailor. Now CNN reports the Navy is working to rename it. Officials have reportedly stopped calling it the USS Doris Miller internally and are referring to it only by its hull number, CVN-81. Two sources said officials have discussed naming it for Trump instead. The Navy may name a different warship for Miller, while his family says nobody even told them his name could be removed. No Navy aircraft carrier in history has ever been named for a sitting president. Doris Miller served a country that denied him equality. When that country came under attack, he risked his life defending it. Now they may erase his name from the historic tribute he earned and put Trump’s there instead.
