From the outside, this place looked like a casual dive bar, so we expected a quick late lunch/early dinner. We arrived around 4pm and were told seating would begin at 4:30, with a table by the window set aside for us. When 4:30 came and the restaurant filled up, we were still waiting at the bar. Captain Jack's is one of my favorite places to eat when I'm in town. The food and drinks never disappoint. My faves: escargot, steamed oysters, prime rib and the king crab legs and cannot forget dessert. The mud pie is a must!! — Christine Costa

If you've ever been to Captain Jack's you know. The menu is simple and unchanged. The King Crab legs are why you come...and leave with a hole in your wallet. The service is good, always and the atmosphere is old school, dated and loud...but if you've been there, you know 😏. Reservations are a good idea, and so is a stop in their bar/lounge. Looks can be deceiving from the outside and upon entry. But once you're seated the serving staff is wonderful. They work as a team and are very accommodating. Tim was our server and he made great meal suggestions. The crab, lobster tails and the prime rib were some of the best entrées I've had in some time. The food is exceptional. Parking is a challenge. Reservations are highly recommended. The place is popular, and therefore crowded, especially near the bar, through which you must pass to exit or use the (tiny, cramped) bathrooms. Not sure if the decor needs an update, or even if that would be possible. Bottom line: it's unique, and therefore worth experiencing. — Duke Walls
